Seafret have released their new EP ‘Anywhere From Here’.
The 5-track EP was inspired after reconnecting with their native Yorkshire home during the pandemic whilst tackling topics including loss, sorrow, relationships and connections.
To celebrate the EP release, Seafret shared with us 5 tracks that influenced ‘Anywhere From Here’.
Bob Dylan – Boots of Spanish Leather | Listen via Spotify
The simplicity and beauty of this song has always blown me away and it’s the kind of feel we wanted to have on ‘Valentine’. Bob Dylan has always been a favourite of ours and a huge influence.
Bright Eyes – Lua | Listen via Spotify
The intimacy of this song is as if Conor Oberst is in direct conversation with you. It inspired us when it came to recording the vocals on ‘Pictures’, we wanted it to have that closeness. Bright Eyes also have always been a huge inspiration for us.
Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars | Listen via Spotify
Everybody knows this song but it’s one of those songs where the lyrics grab your attention right from the opening line. Songs like this inspired me when I came to writing the lyrics for ‘Hollow’.
Justin Bieber – Ghost | Listen via Spotify
I have always loved the production on this track ever since I first heard it, it doesn’t do what you expect and that influenced us when it came to tracks like ‘Everlasting’ and ‘Running Out of Love’.
John Martyn – May You Never | Listen via Spotify
John Martyn has to be on this list as he’s always been a hero of mine and a huge influence on my guitar playing. This was one of the first songs I heard by him and I still love it to this day.
