Single Review | Tinie Tempah feat. Labrinth | Lover Not a Fighter

Tinie TempahBritish rapper Tinie Tempah has teamed up with singer-songwriter pal Labrinth for new single ‘Lover Not a Fighter, the third track taken from Tinie’s second album ‘Demonstration’.

This is not the first time the pair have worked together, the two having collaborated on Tinie’s massive 2010 hit ‘Pass Out’ and 2011’s monster track ‘Earthquake’.

After a strong start to his mainstream career, the first two singles from Tinie’s sophomore effort ticked the ‘hit or miss’ box. The first track taken from ‘Demonstration’ was the largely forgettable ‘Trampoline‘, but its follow-up ‘Children of the Sun’ was excellent.

Thankfully, ‘Lover Not a Fighter‘ finds London-born Tinie on top form once more and in a confident, cheeky mood as the lyrics: “I used to sit on the settee eating a tin of spaghetti, now women think that I’m sexy because I been on the telly” demonstrate.

Despite the song’s title, the rapper is in a bit of a confrontational mood – taking pops at the paparazzi, music critics and a former female college teacher who is only interested in him now he’s had success.

Although the music is enough to let you know it’s a Tinie track, ‘Lover Not a Fighter‘ is peppered with the rapper’s signature “yeah” snarl and of course, his trademark phrase “Disturbing London” is in there too.

The feel-good, catchy track has already hit the UK chart ahead of its official release on 2nd February when it will no doubt make a strong push for the top spot.
