Sleephawk has released the video for new single ‘Malibu’.

The musical project from singer-songwriter Matt Wright, Sleephawk writes, records and makes his own music videos.

The track is the first taster of his new EP, due for release on June 25th via Fireye Records.

Speaking of the single, Matt explained: ‘‘’Sleephawk’ attempts to reflect with sound, artwork and animation, the feelings created by this newly fragmented reality we live in, a time of endless stimuli and restless longing, exploring  ideas of technology loneliness and ambition.’’

Continuing the social media theme, the video for the track uses an iPhone like rectangle as the focal point with animation portraying the obsession that can consume people when the algorithms of social media takeover and show you the same people over and over and over, and the negative effects this can have on one’s mental health with an almost hypnotic effect.

With its pop-infused sound, ‘Malibu’ is a multi-layered treat with an almost tropical summer infusion. For a debut release, it’s an extremely strong single and will leave you wanting move.
