The Chris Commerford Band have released their new single ‘The Way You Treat Me Right’.
The groove-driven blues-rock release follows on from the release of the band’s 2019 EP ‘Mood’.
Speaking of the single, Chris Commerford explained: “This song is about the way infatuation isn’t actually always bliss but instead can drive you to the point of feeling lost in your own kind of crazy.”

Gary is a blues legend and is playing the blues as they did back in the day, but adding a modern R’nB/soul twist. Two main elements that really influenced me for this were the falsetto vocals he delivers throughout the track and the tasty brass lines.

I actually heard this groovy southern-rock/soul jam long after I had written ‘The Way You Treat Me Right’ but this track provided immense inspiration throughout the mix and what direction we pushed the sound in.
B.B King – The Thrill Is Gone | Listen via Spotify
If there is one minor blues tune that’s worth mentioning, It’s this classic by B.B King, It was more just the vibe of the song I had in the back of my head when putting all the instruments together.
John Mayer – Helpless | Listen via Spotify
My greatest influence as a musician is the mighty John Mayer, he blurs the lines of so many genres and knows a thing or two about writing a song. The lead guitar in this track is a staple of his you hear all around his music which really made me want to feature my own guitar playing in a similar way. Just makes you go “F**k yeah!”
Jimi Hendrix – All Along The Watchtower | Listen via Spotify
No guitarist playing blues/rock can ignore what Hendrix did for the blues and electric guitar. This Bob Dylan cover has so much raw power behind it which is a testament to how long it’s been standing in the blues/rock hall of fame. I wanted my track to have the same fierce nature where once thing singing is done, the guitars do all the talking.
