The F16s | 5 tracks that influenced ‘Is It Time To Eat The Rich Yet?’

The F16s have released their new EP ‘Is It Time To Eat The Rich Yet?’.

Written during the pandemic, the new release from the Chennai four-piece explores alienation through the band’s witty lyrical musical journey.

To celebrate their EP release, the band shared with us 5 tracks that influenced ‘Is It Time To Eat The Rich Yet?’

Olivia Newton-John – Hopelessly Devoted To You | Listen via Spotify
It’s as basic as chords climb and the emotion that the chorus exhibits that carries the entire song. Made me feel something that no songs made me feel in a long time and I tried to channel that into my writing.

Charli XCX – Detonate | Listen via Spotify
One of the first releases during the pandemic, the process of how this album came together really inspired to push us to finish our album. Six weeks for an AOTY is nothing to sneeze at.

Perfume Genius – On The Floor | Listen via Spotify
Something very alluring about this record, instantly felt hexed and spent long afternoons floating away with some of these arrangements and diving deeper into my thoughts in isolation, Perhaps didn’t have any direct influence on the record but definitely had an influence on my moods everyday or while driving to the studio.

Joji – Gimme Love | Listen via Spotify
The first time I heard this track, it sounded so honest, it emotionally drew me in. To top that off, the experimental production is captivating with the off-kilter rhythm in the intro which quickly switches to melancholia, I love the unexpected. Sonically it was a treat to my ears.

Parquet Courts – Violence | Listen via Spotify
An inspiration in the art of protest, this song is an afrobeat march unwavering in momentum and frenetic energy. It’s either this or Total Football, because fuck sports celebrities in general.
