Track of the Day | Cold Years – 62 (My Generation is Falling Apart)

Cold Years have released their new single ’62’.

The track takes its title from the 62% of Scotland who voted remain and are forced to leave the EU.

Speaking of the single, frontman Ross Gordon said: “With ’62′, we are venting frustration at how bleak things are right now. Our generation is spiralling out of control, because there’s no real future for us to look forward to. Our country has been torn in half. 62% of Scotland voted to remain in the EU and we don’t want our country dragged out by any of those opportunistic morons who are tearing apart a nation. We have never been a political band, but I just don’t think we could have stood by and said nothing.”

Alongside the single, the band has unveiled an accompanying hilarious lyric video, featuring caricatures including Boris Johnson, Donald Trump, Nigel Farage, Nicola Sturgeon, Angela Merkel and The Queen.

Beer fans are also in for an added treat as to celebrate the release of ’62’, Cold Years have teamed up with Drygate Brewery, for a special collaboration beer, coming in at 6.2%! The beer is now available at Drygate and via their online shop as part of their new Convergence series.

Described as a “rally cry”, ’62’ doesn’t hold back on its lyrics with an extremely powerful chorus. Despite its deep message, ’62’ isn’t a pushy political release, the band has managed to convey their thoughts intertwined into an addictive single that’ll leave you singing along to the compelling lyrics.
