EMM has released her new single ‘Wild Child’.
The track is the first single taken from EMM’s new mixtape ‘Ruby’, with one song set for release every Friday in January.
Speaking of the single, EMM said: “I wrote ‘Wild Child’ about the sacredness of my personal faith journey, and how even if other people would judge me or condemn me, I know that spirit/God/whatever you like to call Her, loves and accepts me for exactly who I am in all of my wildness, my messiness, and my humanity. I write and produce on all of my music and for Wild Child I didn’t put any creative limits or blocks up. It flowed so naturally and I’m always thankful when that happens. I love it because it doesn’t sound like anything else, and it seems to transcend most genre labels.”
Believe it or not, the main instrument used in ‘Wild Child’ is a bagpipe mixed synthetically with an electric guitar!
EMM takes this Scottish staple instrument and entirely transforms its tartan-clad sound into a hypnotic beat that perfectly blends within the release intertwining with EMM’s almost ethereal sounding vocals.
