Norwegian indie-electronic artist Fig Tape has released his latest single ‘Miracle’.
Inspired in part by Danish series ‘Families Like Ours’, which depicts a near future where families are forced to emigrate due to climate catastrophe, the single’s accompanying emotional music video directed by by Jon Olav S. Gulbrandsen has been nominated at one of Norway’s most prestigious short film festivals.
Speaking of the single, he said: “I already had the vision in mind, I wanted to create this indie-electronic hybrid with warped, surreal synths. One of the more unexpected parts of making the track was recording some of the vocals through an actual telephone microphone I rigged into my interface. That gritty, lo-fi texture you hear, that’s straight from that setup.”
‘Miracle’ captures the urgency and anxiety of climate change through a socially conscious track, layered with lo-fi textures and layered vocals. It confronts the unsettling reality of disconnection head on, creating music with a message that matters. Even when the lyrics strike a chord, the beat keeps you moving.
