Track of the Day | Lucia – City of Angels

Lucia have released their new single ‘City of Angels’.

The new single is taken from the band’s ‘Eternity EP’ out today via Sweet Jane Recordings.

Speaking of the single, frontwoman Lucia Fairfull said: “‘City of Angels’ is for anyone who has ever felt unaccepted in society and trapped in a mindset of anxiety. People are constantly judging themselves, others, and comparing the two, which is now intensified by social media. The point is that we do not live in a world full of perfect people (A city of Angels), everyone is entitled to originality, flaws, and no one should feel the need to suppress their personality for the sake of someone else, who probably has also felt the same way.”

The new release also follows the band’s appearance at Jack Saunders HopScotch gig in Glasgow where the band stole the show.

Sounding like it’s been taken straight from the soundtrack of an 80’s teen movie, the single slots perfectly into the band’s sultry repertoire of retro-infused singles, yet this release packs a punchier edge. Add to that Lucia’s enthralling vocals leading you through the relatable tale, Lucia’s latest single is one to remember.
