LUCIA have released their new single ‘Summertime’.
The new track from Glasgow’s indie rockers was produced by Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Adele) and mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Florence).
Speaking of the new single, frontwoman Lucia Fairfull said: “’Summertime’ was influenced by classic love films and my years as a teenager. It comes across as a happy bubble-gum dream pop song showing my love for 60’s girl groups like ‘The Ronettes’ and ‘Lesley Gore’, but the lyrics portray a more dark and grunge story of summer flings ending in broken hearts.”
From the moment we first heard the track at TRNSMT Festival, we knew it’d be a hit – and the studio version simply reinforces this fact. Dreamy and charming from the get-go ‘Summertime’ throws back to hazy psychedelic days, envisaging lying amongst the grass without a care in the world.
The band’s new single release comes ahead of their remaining festival slots including Electric Fields, British Sound Project and Neighbourhood Festival.

Self directed by band members Lucia and Hamish Fingland (guitar), the band have now unveiled the music video for the release filmed by Neelam Khan Vela and Connaire McCann.
Speaking about the making of the video Lucia said: “We shot in a lavender field outside of London during the hottest month of summer, and also in Cyprus in the Aphrodite hills, the birthplace of the Goddess of Love. The video is ‘a flash before your eyes’ on the way to heaven. It is the end of a season, the end of a relationship, and the end of you.”
