Track of the Day | LUNIR – Cubs

LUNIR have released their new track ‘Cubs’.

The new single release comes ahead of the band’s slot at Glasgow’s Tenement Trail Festival next weekend.

Speaking of the single, David Scobie said: “I recently discovered I’m now too big to navigate between the branches of trees and began reminiscing about my childhood friend and I running carefree through the forest like a pair of cubs. This track is about this feeling, like a wild freedom where the opportunity for joy abounds.”

During TRNSMT 2019, this track was brought to our attention as the duo performed a standout stripped-back session. Since then, we’ve been eagerly waiting for the new studio version and it doesn’t disappoint.

Instantly addictive with Becky Sikasa’s sultry vocals leading the way, the song breaks into a euphoric carefree chorus, with the duo’s voices sound made for each other as they flawlessly harmonize throughout.

With the chorus picking up the textured tempo it feels as if it’s mimicking the ‘cubs’ carelessly running, without a worry in the world. It’s a groove along soul-soaked alt-pop treat that we’ll be singing out loud all weekend.
