Track of the Day | Make Friends – Kung-Fu

Make Friends have released the music video for new single ‘Kung-Fu’.

The homemade video was made by the band’s singer Tom Andrews and plays with the idea of having to ‘retrain’ – the slogan that went viral after it was put forward by the Government in the wake of the pandemic.

Speaking of the single, guitarist David Thomas said: “’Kung-Fu’ translates to ‘hard/skilful work’ and ‘time spent’. This seems a fitting title for a time where most of those in creative industries, having trained for years to develop skills utilising their hands and feet, are now being told to retrain. It’s about protecting the value in anything that takes your time and energy.”

Produced by Peter Sené (Everything Everything) and mixed by Bruno Ellingham (The Maccabees), ‘Kung-Fu’ is out now via Funnel Music.

Driven by riffs, ‘Kung-Fu’ is an indie-pop banger that deserves to be turned up loud.

An instantly hooking release from Make Friends that we guarantee you won’t be able to resist moving along – or singing along by the track end…
