Wilderness Festival celebrates the Great British outdoors

wildnerness festivalOxfordshire’s Wilderness Festival is a festival with a difference!

Located in Cornbury Park, the festival takes place over four days – August 7th-10th 2014.

Alongside the usual musical offerings we have grown to know, love and expect from festivals, Wilderness attendees will also be able to experience a variety of outdoor activities for all ages.

Theatre shows, talks, debates, fire shows and long table banquets are on the agenda for this long weekend. Free outdoor activities such as wild swimming, biking, cross-country runs and boating, along with croquet lessons and Wild Medicine Walks will help to pass the time.

There will be pre-bookable classes in the Brazilian martial arts-dance hybrid Capoeira, long-bow archery and horse riding lessons. Alternatively, you can bring out your inner survivalist, taking up fly fishing, or enrolling in the Hunter Gather Cook workshops, in which self-styled survivalist Nick Weston will teach participants the art of going into the wild to taste and gather a variety of plants, preparing dishes cooked from the ingredients gathered.

There will also be plenty for the younger generations to get stuck into. Puppet shows, circus acts, magic, storytelling and a 50th anniversary production of Roald Dahl’s ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ will keep children amused for days.

The musical line up is as follows:

METRONOMY / BURT BACHARACH / LONDON GRAMMAR / JESSIE WARE WITH THE WILDERNESS ORCHESTRA / SAM SMITH / JOAN AS POLICEWOMAN / CONNAN MOCKASIN / GREGORY PORTER / MOUNT KIMBIE / CHET FAKER / SUBMOTION ORCHESTRA / SLOW CLUB / JACK SAVORETTI / TELEMAN / HOZIER / JOSH RECORD / SOAK / SIVU / FLYTE
