Wings of Desire have released their new EP ‘Amun-Ra’.

Out now via WMD Recordings, the EP moves on from the nature of the band’s debut EP and takes you on a journey of self discovery.

Named after the ancient Egyptian diety, the EP looks to celebrate unlimited and boundless freedom with its entrancing sound.

To celebrate the EP release, we caught up with Wings Of Desire to discover 5 tracks that influenced ‘Amun-Ra’.

Girls – Lust For Life | Listen via Spotify
I love how this song makes me feel, although short-lived their debut is still one of my favourites. The general vibe is something I wanted to bring to ‘Choose A Life’. You know that ‘who cares about tomorrow’ thing.

Roxy Music – Virginia Plain | Listen via Spotify
I love the glam stomp of this song, it somehow manages to pull it off without ever sounding cheesy. All the instruments intertwine to the point you don’t even know what you are listening to most of the time. A big influence on ‘Outtamamind’.

The Walkmen – Little House of Savages | Listen via Spotify
Formed out of the ashes of Jonathan Fire*Eater, The Walkmen stood out among their contemporaries with more piano, organ and heavy use of atmospheric sound. They were doing something completely different to all the New York garage bands at the time. I find myself always listening back at times I need inspiration.

Brian Eno – Needle In The Camel’s Eye | Listen via Spotify
An indie classic, the song is the first track off Brian Eno’s debut record. Again in a similar way to ‘Virginia Plain’ pulls off that wall of sound thing. The sound of pure inspiration and excitement at its best.

The War On Drugs – Baby Missiles | Listen via Spotify
One of my favourite War On Drugs songs, I love that live roomy sound they always manage to achieve. Something you don’t here that much anymore on modern records. Something I’m always trying to re-create with Wings of Desire.
