Yoke Lore has released his new shimmering EP ‘Meditations’.
The New York indie pop project is the solo musical venture of Adrian Galvin, previously of Yellerkin and Walk the Moon.
The new engaging EP follows three years of non-stop shows including trips to the UK for The Great Escape Festival and a recent debut UK tour.
To celebrate the EP release and his UK visit, we caught up with Adrian to discover 5 tracks that influenced the release of ‘Meditations’.
Bobey – Melon Cauliflower
It isn’t the slow kind of ‘melancholy.’ Driven. Plucked. Moving forward.
Bibio – Lover’s Carvings
Electronic music played with acoustic instruments. This song inspires autumn and the leaves crunching under my shoes.
Department of Eagles – Too Little Too Late
He [Daniel Rossen] plays it bare bones. He makes something new and beautiful out of it. He really does it more than justice. With every cover, I strive for this combination of outcomes. A favourite cover of mine – and a favourite song of all time, too.
Gabi Siffre – My Song
Such a classic. The piano and horns here are so good.
Mulatu Astatke – Tezeta (Nostalgia)
I’ve always tried to love jazz and I love this. The different chords, the simple, textured rhythms.
