The Ocean’s Eyes; Lost Along The Way

By Hannah Murphy

London-based alternative/pop punk band The Ocean’s Eyes are back with their second E.P ‘Lost Along The Way’ (released 24th October). From just the first listen it is clear for all to see that these guys have such passion, drive and energy and they’re here to make their mark in the music industry.

With a sound reminiscent of an early You Me At Six, The Starting Line and even Good Charlotte, some may say they could be ‘playing it safe’ in the Pop-Punk genre. And yes, there are many bands around which generate the same punchy sound, but even still, there is something fresh, exciting and promising about The Ocean’s Eyes. They have a raw talent which is undeniable – it’s hard to believe they have only been performing collectively since May 2010.

‘Keep Me A Secret’ is the first track from the E.P; and immediately it is clear the energy conjured on debut E.P ‘Lions’ still stands. The chorus sees a fusion of harmonies from lead vocalist Luke McInroy and guitarists Mitch Wright and Andy Dutnall, just perfect for live shows – as are tracks ‘Wake Me Up’ and ‘Room of Red’.

Crowds love being able to interact with a band; connecting with a song and letting go of everything for three or four minutes, and the tracks that The Ocean’s Eyes produce are the type to let you do just that; “Take a look by your side, what’s missing from your life? Open your eyes”.

The Best Stories are Lived’ wraps up the E.P perfectly and will leave you eagerly wondering what is next for the Londoners.

Having already recorded with Outhouse Studios who have previously worked with bands such as Enter Shikari, Funeral For A Friend and You Me At Six, it’s safe to say their future is looking pretty bright.
