David E Beats X The White House Band

Think back to the 60s style music with Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin then bring them forward to the 21st century, add a bit of rapping and there you have David E Beats X The White House Band.

The band have gone on to headline the first DIY Bushwick Music Festival. They opened the festival with a performance at Bushwick Music Studios and closed it with a performance at House of Yes, as well as appearing at a number of other dates.

Among their music influences the band lists Black Sabbath, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Buddy Rich and Metallica.

Their latest project was recorded with Engineer/Producer Albert Difiore (Francis and The Lights, Lenny Kravitz) meaning big things were expected from the EP, which was released for free download on July 15th and it certainly fulfilled such.

The energetic Brooklyn-based band where formed in February of this year and since then have gone on to create their own genre of music “New Vogue”: a combination of Rap, Hard Rock and Blues.

Unlike most rappers David E Beats taught himself how to play guitar and found his lyrically stylings were more suited to that of the rapping style.

The White House Band is comprised of Cory Lonas on bass, Fernando Martinez on guitar, and Elder Merchant on drums.

We managed to speak to David E Beats about the band;

So how did it feel having the chance to record with Albert Difiore?
It was awesome, he really helped us get our sound right. He had the best amps, kits ,mics, etc. that we’ve ever worked with. It was a great experience overall!

What initially inspired you to take the route of the rapping musical style, over the rest?
I just wanted to be different. I noticed that everyone is rapping over a track. I always loved the guitar and had the idea of rapping and playing at the same time which was something totally new and had never been done so I thought it was a good idea at the time! Haha!

Where do you find most of your writing inspiration?
From real life experiences, my fears, loves, boring days, anything really. Just as long as it comes from me and my soul.

If someone hadn’t heard your music and you were given the chance for them to listen to one song, what would it be and why?
‘Walk In’ – the rock version, which is on the Method EP. This is mainly because it’s awesome and my solo is #dopesauce on it haha!!

Do you ever plan on visiting the UK?
Sure, if you guys ever plan on flying me out!

What can we expect in the future from David E Beats X The White House Band?
#dopesauceMusic, #dopesauceLiveShows and just an overall fun time! A great vibe, amazing videos, and big records!

If you are lucky enough to catch David E Beats and The White House Band perform live it has been best described “a unique experience, a total musical revolution!”
