Oxjam 2010 secret gigs line-up revealed

Oxjam 2010 have just announced the line-up who are set to kick-off the events.

The Charlatans, Four Tet, Diana Vickers and Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell are set to play initimate gigs inside a London Oxfam shop this month.

Tom Furse (The Horrors) will also be joining The Charlatans for their unique show.

If you are unaware of the Oxjam scene, this may explain a little more;

Oxjam is Oxfam’s month-long music festival. It runs all through October with hundreds of events around the UK, all organised by people who know and love their local music scene.

Rock. Dance. Classical. Jazz. Whatever you’re into. The idea is that everyone has a good time as well as raising funds for Oxfam’s vital work.

Local music, global impact.

The festival begins at the end of this month and shall carry on throughout October.

The 23rd and 24th of October have now been branded as the ‘Oxjam Takeover Weekend’, as there shall be a massive 31 mini-festivals taking place across the UK.

The Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess explained his thoughts on the project;

“We’ve been playing shows for 20 years now, but performing in an Oxfam shop has to go down as the most unusual venue we’ve ever played. I’ve been buying music from Oxfam shops for years, so it’s great to be able to take our music onto the shop floor and kick off a whole month of great music with a global impact.”

It’s not only celebrities who are getting involved, if you have your own band they are urging everyone to get involved in special Oxjam local gigs which are taking place. For more information and to help out, you can visit their Official Website.
