St. Spirit; Build A Life

Ella Selfe

St. Spirit are a young unsigned band from south London and having only formed less than a year ago, their first single ‘Build A Life’ is nothing but impressive.

The song easily draws you in from the very beginning with the sounds of a fuzzy radio station followed by simple piano and talented acoustic guitar and vocals. The lead vocals seem unique, raw and unedited, but in an entirely good way, making the song seem more fresh and worthy of its rock genre.

The chorus brings the band together, showing off the talented musicians along with powerful backing vocals giving the track extra depth and exhibiting the different levels of the song.

The lyrics and melody work together perfectly, building an alliance that simply makes you want to listen. Although the song isn’t very catchy or a classic sing-a-long, it is definitely hooking, exposing the band’s clear talent. Emotion and potential flow through the entire song and if St. Spirit carry on making tracks like this; they’re only going to keep growing.

‘Build A Life’ is available as a free download from their website (stspirit.com) on 20th August.
