A powerhouse explosion of electric guitar riffs, bombastic bass tunes and incredible drum beats, Save Your Breath’s upcoming release, There Used To Be A Place For Us, needs to be the talk of the town.

It’s loud, energetic and pulls you in from the very first note.

Lessons – With a strong start to the album, Lessons talks about the hardships in life that become lessons later on. It has a great drumbeat and the lyrics are just as strong as the accompaniment that surrounds it.

Whole – More upbeat – yes, it is possible – this song is about seeing the flaws that gape in a person, yet urging them to see the other parts that ‘make them whole’. It’s a great one to sing along to at the top of your lungs.

Maps – Continuing the high energy from the previous track, this song is a little softer vocally. It’s a song you’ll definitely throw your head back and forth to, as well as jump up and down to in a mosh pit.

Harrow Road – Opening a little less heavy on the electric and then escalating to their maximum potential, this song gets you excited from the get-go. There’s nothing stopping you from fist-pumping the air and singing along.

Abandon – With an incredible guitar riff and drumbeat to open the song, Abandon draws you in with anticipation as the vocals kick-in. The entire song makes you feel like you want to kick and punch the air for every time you were lied to, hurt or ‘abandoned’.

Skin & Bones – This is another song with great synchronisation of the electric and drums, mixed with a great balance of the bass. I love the lyrics of this song; it’s definitely one you belt out.

Find A Way – This one starts strong and heavy musically and as the vocals enter, they’re just as strong as the accompaniment; it’s another song that you’d love to be in the mosh-pit for.

The World Is Yours – This song is strong vocally and musically, but its lyrics are the strongest component in comparison to some of their previous songs. This one is a great song to sing along to and is definitely my favourite song on the album.

Touchpaper – Nothing short of powerful, this song begs you to belt it out along with them. The accompaniment overwhelms your senses, but leaves room for you to rock-out your own way.

Airs & Graces – With a soft start and a powerful ending, this song is slower than the previous tracks on the album. The music supports the lyrics and tells the story of a love breaking apart; this is definitely another one of my favourites.

There Used To Be A Place For Us – The softest song on the album closes the album beautifully lyric-wise, vocally and musically. It’s a delicate combination of electric guitar and vocals. It’s a great way to end such a high-charged album.

Overall, There Used To Be A Place For Us is a great combination of power and gentleness. There’s a great balance of highs and lows in terms of the accompaniment, but vocally, each track is powerful and demands that you sing along. Make sure to get it when it hits your local stores or iTunes.
