Alexis Keegan continues her successful solo career by returning to her roots to release a gospel inspired R ‘n’ B-pop classic.
With two successful EP’s to her name, as well as experience working with Jay-Z’s Nephew and his crew, Alexis is now ready to focus on developing as a solo artist with the release of her new single
To celebrate the upcoming release of her new single ‘Gospel’, Alexis Keegan shared with us five tracks that helped shape the release.
CeeLo Green – Forget You
Such a fun, playful and memorable tune! The thought was to make a female version of this.
Aretha Franklin – Think
This track encouraged the 50’s and 60’s style production like the piano in the verses and organs in the hooks, also the SASS!!
Outkast – B.O.B
This inspired the original tempo, feel and drums. Such a vibey song!
James Weldon Johnson – Lift Every Voice and Sing
A song that I sang throughout my childhood in a gospel choir and I really wanted to incorporate the big choir into the song.
Amy Winehouse – Rehab
The perfect representation of making a song that feels retro but also current which is exactly what we wanted. Even with that 50s/60’s flare you still want to dance to Gospel because the melodies and vocal cadence make it catchy, bouncy, and fun!
Alexis Keegan’s brand new single ‘Gospel’ is set to be released on October 5th.
With new music already being worked on, it seems to be the first step on a very exciting path for this young and fresh artist!
