Edinburgh Music Lovers will launch this September with an exclusive gig with Colin Stetson.
The gig on Saturday 29th September will mark Colin’s only UK show bringing his experimental post-rock and post-jazz trio to Summerhall, featuring Greg Fox and Trevor Dunn.
Edinburgh Music Lovers (EML) is a new boutique promoter for the city on a mission to help make the capital a thriving music city while supporting mental health by raising awareness and funds for its partner charity the Scottish Association for Mental Health.
EML will host events in venues across the capital featuring national and local artists alongside plans to curate a flagship music festival for Edinburgh, helping develop Edinburgh into a thriving music city for locals and a must-visit in the music tourism market.
We’re all too aware of the recent difficulties Edinburgh has faced when it comes to its live music scene and EML will work with the likes of Edinburgh City Council, The Scottish Music Industry Association and Marketing Edinburgh to help create a supportive environment to help music thrive
Speaking of the launch of EML, director Jim Byers said: “Edinburgh has some amazing music events, venues and dedicated promoters. But on a wider level, I believe, as many do, that Edinburgh punches below its weight for music given it’s a capital city. The city’s music fans often miss out on touring acts or are forced to spend time and money travelling elsewhere.
“We want to help make that happen by working with others to create a coordinated strategy for music and a strong collective voice to represent music culture in the city. As a boutique promoter dedicated to Edinburgh, ultimately we’d like to make Edinburgh one of the most exciting cities in the UK and beyond for live music.”
