Anaya has released her new single ‘Emotions’.
‘Emotions’ follows the release of Anna’s debut EP ‘i woke up one night’, which has reached over one million streams.
Speaking of the new single, Anaya said:“‘Emotions’ dives deep into the emotional layers of what it truly means to let go, not only of a relationship but of the haunting memories and shadows that linger long after. This song captures the raw vulnerability of pain yet transforms it into a message of strength and renewal. “Emotions” speaks to the universal struggle of finding peace after turmoil, and serves as a reminder that healing is both a personal and empowering journey.”
To celebrate her single and music video release, Anaya shares with us 5 tracks that influenced ‘Emotions’.
Tate McRae – She’s All I Wanna Be
When I first heard ‘She’s All I Wanna Be’ I listened to it for three days straight. Despite it being so catchy, this song explores the insecurities and frustrations that arise from comparison, especially in the context of a love triangle. The production here was a starting point for inspiration, as well as the exploration of self-reflection and personal growth.
Rachel Chinouriri – Never Need Me
I’m pretty sure this is one of my most-played songs of the year. I’m so proud of Rachel Chinouriri’s career and can’t wait to see her continue to rise. There’s a moment in the song that feels like freedom, (2:59) like exhaling all the weight of a tough situation. That part really resonated with me—it’s like a glimpse of light amid the heartache, reflecting the brighter sides of healing.
Mimi Webb – House on Fire
The melody of ‘House on Fire’ initially caught my attention, but it was the intensity of its writing that truly inspired me. The song’s powerful response to betrayal and quest for revenge really resonated. Both ‘House on Fire’ and ‘Emotions’ capture intense emotional experiences, though they offer distinct perspectives on how those feelings are expressed and processed. ‘Emotions’ drew inspiration from the raw emotional intensity of ‘House on Fire’.
Taylor Swift – The Man
I think every Taylor Swift song ever is an inspiration to me, not only when it comes to songwriting. I was heavily inspired by the production of ‘The Man’ and aimed to achieve a confident and polished pop sound similar to that. This is one of my favourite songs and has always empowered me, so I wanted to channel that feeling into ‘Emotions’. Recognising that healing doesn’t always make us feel our strongest, I focused on crafting a driving melody and production that would offer empowerment and strength to the listener, thanks to ‘The Man’. I’m really inspired by Taylor Swift’s bravery in addressing topics that people often shy away from.
Anaya – Bad For You
‘Bad For You’ turns a breakup into an empowering moment of self-realization and motivation, and sort of became my “hype song” that fuels positivity and strength, despite underlying heartache. The blend of emotional lyrics with upbeat production made it both cathartic and energizing, so ‘Emotions’ can be seen as a continuation or evolution of the introspective and self-reflective style found in ‘bad for you’.
