Cloud House recently released their debut track ‘Just Drive’.
Launching the single with a sold-out show at Glasgow Garage Attic, the band only emerged in spring 2019 but have quickly garnered a growing fanbase with an appetite for their music.
To give you an insight into their songwriting process, we caught up with the band to discover 5 tracks that influenced the release.
Greenday – Youngblood | LISTEN
This song is so anthemic and the repetitive chant of the chorus is something we wanted to replicate live, with the crowd chanting back to us.
Deathcab for Cutie – Northern Lights | LISTEN
We are a fan of the guitar tones in this song and also how clear, relatable and vulnerable the vocals sound in the mix.
Last Dinosaurs – Time & Place | LISTEN
Love the really chilled/funky verses mixed with the nice fast choruses. There’s a really nice blend of simplistic rhythm with well-produced spacey guitar tones.
Coldplay – A Sky Full of Stars | LISTEN
Purely for the way the lead guitar cuts through in the choruses and outro of this song – so so simple but so effective.
Frightened Rabbit – Head Rolls Off | LISTEN
Possibly the most important influence – the ultimate lyricist, bold and unafraid. We actually got our band name from the lyrics in verse two of this song – ‘I believe there’s a house in the clouds‘. Frightened Rabbit will always hold a special place in our hearts, this song in particular.
