I’ve been here before along this quiet quirky road in Chichester, we grabbed hold of this brutal and sexy Post-Hardcore five-some after their hot-as-hell performance at The Chi Inn! Again, the weather was below bitter and being the complete air head that I am, I made the huge mistake of not bringing my jacket, but I braved it, Snakebite and cigarette in hand, in the beer garden on the sofa with the lads from A Room Swept White….
So guys, how long have you been together as a band?
Ermmmm, we have together for about a year and a half now, we originally formed in January 2011 but even still, that’s not too long I guess!
Ryan: I joined A Room Swept White about 9 months ago now. Mainly because the old vocalist left and they needed someone, but also because they wanted a new sort of sound to their music as the old vocalist was really heavy metal kinda style vocals, ya’no, like really high stuff. Bit shouty, stuff like that.
So how many tracks do you have? Tell us about your EP.
We recorded about 6 months ago actually, you can find our tracks on our Facebook band page.
So guys, have you got any management? Who keeps everyone in line and outta trouble ?!
We kinda just get gigs wherever we can really. We even call up and ask! We’re just trying to get our name out there at the moment. We’ve done a few gigs in Brighton, Horsham, Crawley and those kind of areas. This is our first time in Chichester! It’s good because we’ve travelled about an hour’s drive away today to get here, which is a bit more than what we usually do. It’s good aswell, because we’ve enjoyed this gig a lot, mainly because the environment is a bit different. We recently played a gig in Camden, Becky missed us this time, but it was fantastic.
How do you feel about gigging in London?
We always wanted to try to get our first London gig at The Relentless Garage, but we actually ended up at Camden Underworld! We played with the likes of Raven Face, Dirty Little Secret and The Direction. Since then we’ve played just outside of London in Guildford and also the Scream Lounge in Croydon.
Now c’mon guys, treat us, can we safely look at any tours this year or next?
Maybe the end of this year, we don’t know yet. We’re on the bill for Guilfest this summer though!! We’re generally up for anything. We’re willing to put our weekends in and everything. Before venturing into London and surrounding areas, Chichester and Worthing were probably the furthest places we’ve travelled for gigs. We just don’t care where we go, we’ll take anything and travel anywhere for a show. We just want that experience, to be able to go home and say ‘I’ve been to that place!’
What kinda age group are A Room Swept White ?!
We’re all 18 and 19!! In fact when we spoke to Becky, at that time we were all exactly 18 years old! All ladies beware, there is an awesome Post-Hardcore five-some in our midst and they’re all ranging hormonal teenage lads!
Throughout the interview a very special bassist from A Room Swept White named Alex Bowring, enlightened us with endless stories of his Topman jumper. Someone might have indulged a little to well at the bar earlier on in the night!! Unfortunately, we didn’t get to spend too much time with them on this occasion, but I most definitely look forward to catching up with them again in the near future.
Dont miss out on A Room Swept White’s show updates! Also check out their new merch :
