HOUNDS

Last year alone, HOUNDS were hand-picked by The Prodigy to play Milton Keynes Bowl, played Sonisphere festival and toured the UK with Does It Offend You Yeah?

If that wasn’t enough, the band have now been confirmed to play this year’s Download Festival and will release their new EP ‘The Wicked’ on June 4th.

We caught up with the band to allow them to introduce themselves to Love Music; Love Life.

For those who have yet to discover the band, how would you describe your ‘sound’?

I would say its rock with beats and a punk rock vibe thrown in. Or at least that’s how we want to sound anyway!

How did it feel playing Sonisphere last year?

Sonisphere was great, I grew up listening to Metallica, Megadeath and Anthrax so to be on the same festival bill as them was a real personal achievement. On another level though it was a great piss up and a laugh.

Are there any particular dates on last year’s ‘Does It Offend You Yeah?’ tour that stand out for you?

The whole tour was brilliant and the last date at Heaven in London was a great way to end it. But I have to say the gigs up north, especially Manchester, were amazing. They don’t hold back that lot, they love it.

You’re confirmed to play Download this year, what can we expect from your set?

We will be giving it everything we have got as we do at every show, loads of energy and a lot of sweat coming from an out of shape and slightly over weight front man.

You are set to release your EP on June 4th,how would you describe this to us?

The EP is our first offering to the outside world. We have been writing and recording for quite a while and we now feel its time to drop something. It’s a selection of the songs we think best define our sound and what we are about. It’s pretty straight to the point.

Are there any tracks on the EP in particular you favour?

For me personally it’s ‘Fan The Flames’, I love the way it sounds. It’s the oldest song on the EP and it’s been around in various forms for a while and just as we were putting the EP together we got it finished off and it was like the final piece of the puzzle.

Why did you decide on the title ‘The Wicked’?

We are pretty useless with names and titles to be honest and we struggled for ages to come up with something that did the release justice. But then Chas pulled ‘The Wicked’ out of the bag at a meeting and it just seemed to work. It’s a title that’s all-encompassing, and sums up the vibe and pace of the EP.

What can we expect from your EP launch gig?

Well we will be doing a live set as well as DJing and we have some other great guest DJ’s too. Its free entry so it’s really an open door for everyone to come hang out with us and celebrate the release. Chas may even do a striptease!

Do you have any other touring plans for 2012?

We will definitely be touring later in the year, all details will be on our Facebook page etc when we confirm anything.

What do you hope to have achieved as a band by the end of the year?

At least one new song. I don’t like to put too much pressure on myself!
