Our Eurovision 2011 Low-down…

As if our live coverage via Twitter wasn’t enough, here’s a run-down of our Eurovision 2011 thoughts.

This year’s ceremony has taken place in Düsseldorf, Germany and we can bring you the low-down of what we thought.

With the theme this year ‘Feel Your Heartbeat’, it seems there certainly was a lot of songs confiding to the theme with their love songs.

The 25 entrants took to the stage and with 150 million viewers worldwide, the pressure was on.

Now we can give you our low-down on some of the countries;

Denmark were set to give Jedward some hair rivalry with the lead singer’s attempt at the famous quiff.

We don’t really know what to say about Greece, Russia or France

Defending her title this year Germany‘s Lena came up with some great song lyrics – ‘Dip dip dada dada da’.

Slovenia presented us with their Anastasia sounding-like entry.

Estonia gave a 70’s feel to the stadium with their pop song.

A Jason Mraz style song was presented by Switzerland, it was very catchy and contained a ukulele and bubbles – always winning combination!

The one we were all waiting on – Ireland‘s entry Jedward. They looked just like they had stepped out of a Britney Spears video with their bright red glittery costumes and as the highly energetic twins bounced about the stage, we couldn’t help but sing along. They did indeed wake the venue up as they buzzed around on sugar and hairspray around the stage with their well choreographed routine – they also had confetti, we like confetti.

Lithuania excited us with song title C’est Ma Vie, which unfortunately turned out nothing like the B*Witched classic ‘C’est La Vie’.

The UK‘s entry with Blue proved they are great live singers, but did start of to a shaky beginning. As if the massive screen wasn’t enough, it seems Blue didn’t get the memo – as they brought 4 smaller screens with them. Despite the screen mis-hap, the band put on a strong performance and their vocals were strong.

The real-life sized shouting gnomes from Moldova were very…interesting, they even included a girl gnome on a unicycle- not something you see everyday on TV.

Sweden‘s very easy-on-the-eye entry looked as if he had stepped straight out of a boyband. With song ‘Popular’ it seems he doesn’t need to convince the ladies anymore and with the addition of smashing out of a glass box, there was something for everyone.

Spain‘s entry had a very ‘club tropicana’ feeling to it. With the projected palm trees, happy dancing and bright dresses it was indeed a feel good entry, although it was not as catchy as Romania!

Ukraine‘s entry contained a sand-woman. This was all very distracting from the song, by the end of the performance all we could tell you was that we want her dress and hair. Apart from that, we were too distracted by the sand woman (apparently the correct name is a sand painter) to notice anything else, she was great.
