Sun Arcana | 5 tracks that influenced ‘Just Another Dream Away’

Sun Arcana have released their new highly-anticipated EP ‘Just Another Dream Away’.

Out now via Easy Life Records, the new release from the alt-rockers saw the band work alongside Chris Coulter (Jamie Lenman, Arcane Roots), Gustav Wood and John Taylor (of Young Guns) and Adrian Bushby (Muse, Foo Fighters).

Featuring two previous LMLL TOTD’s with ‘What If You Can’t Accept Me?‘ and ‘Hard to be Around‘, the result is an impressive 5-track EP that showcases Sun Arcana as the most promising alt-rockers around. It’s a rip-roaring release that feels as though it’s their time to showcase to the world what they’ve got – 2020 is guaranteed to be their year, so listen now and get ahead of the hype!

To celebrate the EP release, we caught up with frontman Tom Harper-ward to delve into five tracks that influenced ‘Just Another Dream Away’.

Bring Me The Horizon – Mantra | Listen
This came out as we were writing some of these songs. We were so stoked on how they had followed ‘That’s The Spirit’ with another heavy rock/pop banger. I think that’s kinda what we want to do with this EP. Create a rock record but with strong pop elements.

Highly Suspect – My Name Is Human | Listen
We really wanted this record to represent us, powerful vocals, big guitars and punchy drums. This song does that and it’s just so cool. The guitars are massive and dirty, the drums hit hard and the vocals are so powerful. Everything we love in a song.

The Maine – Black Butterflies & Deja Vu | Listen
We played our first show in Europe with these guys and another two shows in the UK. Every time they played this song it just went off. It’s such a feel-good energetic song and we wanted to take that energy and put it into this record.

Blink 182 – Stay Together For The Kids | Listen
One our favourite Blink songs, we love how the verses are played on a tiny drum kit and the choruses switch to a full kit to give the chorus that extra lift. We wanted our choruses to hit so hard so we were always looking for ideas and inspiration to help that happen.

Deftones – Be Quiet and Drive Away (Far Away) | Listen
We were a bit late to the party with Deftones but this song in particular really stuck with us. We were going through a phase of loving all things 90’s; especially the big harmonic guitars that surround songs like these. ‘Through The Night’ was especially influenced by that early Foo Fighters/Deftones grunge scene.
