Supertramp’s ‘Breakfast In America’ deluxe edition set for release

Supertramp’s classic sixth album ‘Breakfast In America’ is getting the deluxe re-issue treatment to include a 2nd disc of unreleased live recordings from the late seventies.

Further great news is that the band are supporting the release themselves with The ’70-10’ Tour which commemorates 40 years since the release of their debut. They’ll be in the UK on October 6th to play the O2 Arena.

Their sixth album, Supertramp’s most popular and successful work, ‘Breakfast in America’ was released in March 1979, and reached Number 3 in the UK and Number 1 in the United States where it stayed on top for six weeks. It has sold over 6 million copies in the US alone and over 18 million worldwide.

This deluxe edition adds a second disc, ‘Breakfast Around The World’, containing previously unreleased live recordings from London and Paris between October and December 1979. Mostly drawn from ‘Breakfast In America’, it also includes earlier stage favourites ‘Rudy’, ‘Give A Little Bit’ and ‘Even In The Quietest Moments’.

This new edition also features insightful sleeve notes by Mojo editor Phil Alexander, telling the story behind ‘Breakfast In America’ (complete with new interviews). For all their differences, all of the band members are agreed that Breakfast was the apogee of their time together.

The deluxe 2-Disc edition is available on October 4th through A&M/Polydor.
