Tim Chadwick | 5 tracks that influenced ‘Timothy’

Tim Chadwick has released his new EP ‘Timothy’.

The five-track EP features was written during the pandemic in his Dublin home and features 3 new tracks alongside previously released singles ‘If I Gotta Run’ and ‘Only Me’.

Speaking of the EP, Tim said: “There’s a huge difference between being alone and loneliness; these songs explore what it means to be uncomfortably comfortable with yourself. The EP goes through the ugly but beautiful challenge of looking at yourself in the mirror, and being okay with what you see; the good and the bad.”

To celebrate his EP release, Tim shared with us 5 tracks that influenced ‘Timothy’.

Hayley Williams – Pure Love | Listen via Spotify
Hayley’s voice destroys me on this track. This was the first song that sparked inspiration in me after the lockdown hit. It’s funky and soulful but also poppy and high energy – that final chorus. My days. Adding it to the list of songs I wish I had written. The concept of self-love is also something that really runs through my own EP.

HAIM – Now I’m In It | Listen via Spotify
I can’t tell you how many times I have danced around my room to this song. I don’t like throwing the word “vibe” around too easily, but this is it. This is the vibe. It’s fast-paced but also insanely chill. Rostam killed it with the percussion on this, everything is so warm. Haim are one of the best bands out there right now. They’ve been consistent game-changers.

Maggie Rogers – Say It | Listen via Spotify
Maggie can do no wrong. She is completely in control of her art and craft. This track reminds me of a 90s Janet Jackson style song. It’s both current and classic. I have drunk copious amounts of wine while dancing to this. It’s been on repeat since 2019.

Billie Eilish – i love you | Listen via Spotify
I loved how Billie and Finneas created a world for this song. The ambient sounds and real-life samples make this a certified masterpiece. I love how simple it is. The production is minimal but has such an impact to it. This hugely influenced my track ‘In Another Life’. It both breaks my heart and heals it all over again.

Caroline Polachek – Look At Me Now | Listen via Spotify
Another ethereal gem from Caroline. Her album Pang is such a hidden gem. I’m also a huge Imogen Heap fan and I can really hear some influence there. I love the introspectiveness of this song. Those conversations with ourselves are some of the most beneficial conversations to have. This track really influenced my song ‘Search Party‘.
