Track of the Day | Midweek – Honey, Darling

Midweek have released their debut single ‘Honey, Darling’.

Forming in spring last year, the Cheltenham-based alternative quintet take influence from fellow alt-rockers Lower Than Atlantis, Jimmy Eat World and Basement.

Within a few months, the band made their way to Southampton to record new singles with producers Neil Kennedy and Daly George (Milk Teeth, Creeper, Boston Manor).

Speaking of their debut single, vocalist/guitarist, Joseph Holmes said: “’Honey, Darling’ is about a friend who was in a really negative relationship. The lyrics I write always tend to be reactions to certain events that happen in my life, good or bad and this one was no different. My friend was with someone who walked all over her and it drove me crazy – the lyrics tell that story”.

With their debut single, it’s clear to see why they’ve teamed up with top producers, ‘Honey, Darling’ is a perfectly cut slice of punk rock featuring a catchy chorus and pop hooks.
