Track of the Day | Sports Team – The Races

Sports Team have released their new single ‘The Races’.

Recorded at Livingston Studios in London, the track was produced by longtime collaborator Burke Reid (Courtney Barnett, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever).

Speaking of the track’s beginnings, frontman Alex Rice said: “Oli came in one morning with the opening bass idea and we’d finished the song in a morning. It was unusually easy. It’s a lot of fun to play.”

The single release comes amidst the band’s headline UK tour dates, with a forthcoming sold-out Scottish show at Glasgow’s King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut.

Flowing with swagger from start to finish in Sports Team style, the band bring characters back from their catalogue with a political and misguided patriotic twist. ‘The Races’ encapsulates the band’s live unpredictable nature with a riotous track that clambers to its chorus.
