STIIR have released their new single ‘Heartstrings’.
Produced by the band’s drummer Prem Rupawala, ‘Heartstrings’ sees the group channel their influences, which include Jamiroquai and The Beach Boys, while also adopting the more contemporary aesthetic of artists like Tame Impala and Steve Lacy.
Speaking of their latest release, frontman Ruben Watts describes the lyrics as “being about someone you love getting in the way of what you want to do with your life, because of how much you love them.”
Lyrically, the track describes “feeling a certain way towards someone, no matter what changes… that you’d be around for them, to look after them, even if you weren’t a part of their life anymore.”
He goes on to describe the chorus as being about “feeling a certain way towards someone, no matter what changes. Even if things were to change and you weren’t with them anymore.”
‘Heartstrings’ is a bop-along track that had us moving in seconds. From its shimmering sound to the groovy bassline, it’s instanly engaging as the lyrics are set for hazy singalongs. An all-round glistening treat from the trio.
