Track of the Day | The Strands – Made of Art

The Strands have released their new single ‘Made of Art’.

The new track follows their debut single, ‘Combine’, which saw the band land a support slot alongside fellow indie-rockers Larkins.

The Strands have also been announced for Newcastle’s Hit The North Festival in May.

Speaking of the single, the band explained: “It is wholeheartedly putting yourself on the line. Showing your appreciation and admiration for another person. We come from a small town called Sunderland. A place which is known for its disreputability. Our message is that we, like most other young people, want our voices to be heard amongst the crowd. We don’t want to be associated with bigoted and distasteful ways of thinking that surround our local area”

Taking influence from fellow indie bands, The Strands slot straight into the guitar-driven indie rock space. ‘Made of Art’ is a strong debut that, although perhaps doesn’t verge any way from the standardised indie sound, makes a comforting listen that would easily slot into any indie playlist with its ear hooks, addictive lyrics and catchy melody leaving us intrigued to hear things to come.
