TRNMST Festival | Main Stage Preview | Friday 29th June

With the first weekend looming, we take a look at the full rundown of this year’s main stage performers set for the first day of TRNSMT 2018.

We’ve shared our top acts from the King Tut’s Stage, but what does the main stage have to offer at TRNSMT Festival 2018?

The weekend will kick off on Friday 29th June with headliners The Stereophonics. Following their recent stadium slots, the band are veterans at entertaining large crowds, with no less than 20 years experience behind them. As TITP regulars, they’re used to a rowdy Scottish crowd with Friday night set to be no exception.

Joining The Stereophonics, James Bay has come a long way since his open mic days. Fast-forward five years, James most recently supported none other than The Rolling Stones at Twickenham Stadium. Alongside iconic support slot, James has been selling out venues across the UK and achieving chart-topping positions including his recently released second album ‘Electric Light’ which reached the number two spot. It seems there’s no slowing down for the singer-songwriter who introduced a diverse sound, guaranteed to warm the crowd up for The Script.

The Script will return to Scotland following their Freedom Child tour. If our trip to their Edinburgh show is anything to go by, you’re in for a treat with a festival crowd only set to fuel the band’s contagious energy.

Fellow Irish rockers Kodaline will return to Glasgow offering a sneak peek into their third album release, due out later this year. Continuing the Irish infusion Picture This will open the main stage following their recent stadium support slots which have proven they’re ones to make your way into the arena early for.

In the UK, it would seem that Jessie J has been quiet across recent years, however she’s been making quite the name for herself in China. Despite not releasing a single in the UK since 2015, Jessie J recently won a professional singers X Factor-style competition in China and has built quite the following overseas. Set to return to the UK in winter, her hit singles are guaranteed to ensue singalongs while she treats fans to a taster of new material.

Embrace will continue the mass sing-song fever taking things back to the noughties – who’s ready to belt out ‘Gravity’?! Their TRNSMT slot also follows the release of their seventh studio album ‘Love Is A Basic Need’.
