Call Me Amour have released their debut self-titled EP.
Out now via via Circular Wave, the EP comes ahead of the band’s UK tour with Set It Off.
Speaking about the EP, guitarist Geoff Murphy shares: “The EP is something that we’ve been putting together over the past year, revisiting ideas and utilising all of our influences to create something that we’re really happy with. I think it shows what we can do and also shows diversity in our sound as we have mangled a few genres into these five tracks. George Perks was a big part of this EP and his creative input and vision was second to none. Also to have two giants of their craft in Mikey Chapman of Mallory Knox & Scott Kennedy of Bleed From Within feature on this EP was incredible. Both of them bringing out the best in the tracks they featured on.”
To celebrate their release, Call Me Amour shared with us 5 tracks (and albums) that influenced their self-titled EP.
Dinosaur Pile-up – Celebrity Mansions
Not any particular song from this album, but as a whole I think this album has been in our ears and part of us since we toured with them. Great riffs and melodies from start to finish. We definitely drew inspiration from these songs and their pop sensibilities. Every song is an earworm!
Bad Omens – Nowhere To Go
Another album that is a perfect combination of catchy melodies and dark synth/guitars. We’ve always leaned on EDM/DnB for our music and this particular track has all the elements. If Justin Bieber & Slipknot had a baby It would be Bad Omens… although I’m not sure how flattering they’d find that…
Post Malone – Beerbongs and Bentleys
The sample choices and dark electronics used throughout this record, for sure influenced and expanded our sound. I think we tend to build songs around samples & EDM and then layer the guitars/vocal melodies over the top of it.
Incubus – Morning View
Back to the basics which is essentially what we are with this album. A particular influence on vocal patterns and melodies for Harry. Brandon Boyd has an incredible voice and his deliveries are almost silky.
Bring Me The Horizon – Can You Feel My Heart
I find it hard to write songs without desperately trying to reference the samples in this song. Insanely catchy and I’m always striving to give our songs the same impact as the opening to this track. I watched a kind of walk through with Jordan Fish that shows the process of designing that melody and it’s such a simple but undeniable Idea.
