Daytime TV headlined Edinburgh’s Liquid Rooms on the first night of their headline UK tour.
With a recent name change from Hunter and the Bear and armed with a plethora of new songs, they brought their new sultry sound for an up-close hometown show to awaken the venue on a quiet Thursday night.
Guitar driven from the get-go, this set was energy fuelled from the second instruments filled their hands. With drumsticks held in the air as guitar straps were tightened up, it was time to strap in for a memorable set.
In a live setting, Daytime TV’s theatrical elements to their music are only emphasized making the stage their playground as they engaged with the audience throughout. There’s something instantly entrancing about the band that leaves you enthralled as their catchy sound is amplified in a live setting.
New releases ‘Ugly’ and ‘Side Effects’ left their mark days after the show while older singles including the well-loved ‘Paper Heart’ and ‘Charlotte Street’ sparked instant singalongs from fans gathered at the front of the stage.
The band’s newer poppier elements were spotlighted in groovealong tracks including ‘Communication’ with frontman Will Irvine’s melt-worthy velvet vocals leading the way throughout the night with his impressive frontmanship guiding the way.
That’s not to say it was all about Will – the entire band seemed thankful for every second on stage. With an evident close bond, each band member was also given time to shine as their fellow bandmates looked on with beaming smiles.
Throughout their set, they not only showcased their strength in sound – but in friendship too.
Previewing new singles throughout the night taken from their newly announced album release, some tracks leaned towards a poppier sound with elements of The 1975-esque indie pop sound.
Daytime TV managed to intertwine guitar-driven top-tapping, head-nodding releases with pop sprinkled singles set to get you grooving into their seamless shimmering set.
This is just the beginning for Daytime TV. If this intimate show was even a fraction to go by for the future, they have an extremely promising future ahead – and we can’t wait to see them propel!
