Luna Pines have released their new single ‘Bright Blue’.
The new single from the Leeds low-fi electronic/pop duo is out now via CloseUp/Modern Sky.
Speaking of the single vocalist/guitarist and synth player Lotte said: “I wrote ‘Bright Blue’ essentially about being in a suicidal state and really wanting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I wanted a slightly more uplifting and upbeat instrumental to juxtapose the two sentiments, as the lyrics are essentially about me feeling like I’m going to fall off the earth. The person I’m referencing in the song is again my friend Davarious who I wrote a lot of Luna Pines material with. After he took his own life a year and a half ago, I spiralled down pretty quickly to an even lower place than I was in before, when about a year before that I was diagnosed with an extreme acute anxiety disorder and severe depression that left me inside my room for many months where I would often plan how I would, and also dream about, ending my own life. This song is kind of meant to sound like that dream-like state. It’s not meant to romanticise suicide in any way, it’s meant to signify a hope that there, in fact, is light at the end of the tunnel. I am no longer in that place, it’s merely a reflection – and I guess that’s proof that that light does exist.”
‘Bright Blue’ is an almost hypnotic release with its low-fi electronic blend creating a dreamy soundscape. With a powerful meaning and poignant lyrics, the hazy track transforms into a euphoric release leaving you encapsulated by Luna Pines sound.
