wavebye | 5 tracks that influenced ‘Sugar’

Pop-rockers wavebye have released their new EP ‘Sugar’.

Speaking of the release, frontman Finlay Male said: “The ‘Sugar’ EP is a deluge of emotion we have been bottling up for over a year, and its release fills us with the biggest sense of pride.”

The band have every right to feel proud as the release features an impressive selection of 6 tracks which were an instant hint for us, including two previous LMLL Track of the Day singles with ‘Sugar‘ and ‘Show Me‘.

To celebrate the EP release, guitarist Daly George shared 5 tracks that influenced ‘Sugar’.

Bloc Party – This Modern Love
We’re big fans of this band and this track. It is so simple and so brilliant in how the dynamics are created throughout the track. Plus, you really can’t beat two guitars playing pretty parts!

Taking Back Sunday – makedamnsure
This song is all about pure emotion, and something that we truly care about when listening and creating music. The vocal performance on this song is incredible.

The 1975 – Change Of Heart
We made our first attempt of using synthesisers and electric drums on this record. This track was a great source of inspiration, all the little details that add up to help create a real atmosphere and setting for a song.

Jimmy Eat World – Always Be
These guys are one of our biggest influences, they are truly great songwriters. ‘Always Be’ is a fantastic pop-rock song and one thing we take from this band is that they don’t sound like anyone else.

Paramore – Ain’t It Fun
We love this record for everything it is – the composition, the production and the mix is incredible. As soon as the drums come in your head just starts moving and the drum tone on this record is a personal favourite!
