Boy in Space has released his new single ‘Too Much To Lose’.
The new release showcases a shift in sound for Robin Lundbäck towards more guitar-heavy influences.
Speaking of the single, Boy In Space said: “‘Too Much To Lose’ talks about the sensation of wanting someone you’ve been with but knowing it would just make things so much worse if you would cross that line. And what it’s like dealing with that, going back and forth in your own head.”
To celebrate his single release Robin Lundbäck shared with us 5 tracks that influenced ‘Too Much To Lose’
Maggie Rogers – So Sick Of Dreaming
The first time I heard ‘So Sick Of Dreaming’, cruising with the windows down, it hit me directly. The slow pace drums allowed me to sink into a groove I never wanted to fall out of. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so energized by such a depressing song. I would definitely say the movement of So Sick of Dreaming inspired a lot of my upcoming music and I’m incredibly excited about that.
Stephen Wilson Jr. – Fathers son
The storytelling of ‘Father’s Son’ blew me away. When a song can help you realise certain things in your own family and give you a space to accept the parts of yourself you cannot change that is special. This song sparked something in me to dive into myself and write music as honest and raw as Steven Wilson Jr.
Leon Bridges – Peaceful Place
I went through a lot of emotional storms this year and ‘Peaceful Place’ was like wind in my sails when things got too chaotic. The performance of those incredible vocals and the musicianship allowed me not to think, just feel. As a musician, I find myself always analyzing music and this song turned that off and just had me feeling.
Kacy Musgraves – Heaven Is
Being my father’s son, I’ve always had a weak spot for Irish folk melodies and hearing ‘Heaven Is’ for the first time felt nostalgic. The lyrics spoke to me because they speak about the simple things in life and the short beautiful moments that we are lucky enough to experience. I am longing for that type of love, it was hard not to get stuck with this song.
Sierra Ferrell – American dreaming
I’ve spent a lot of time traveling to the United States in my career and ‘American Dreaming’ has been like a close friend to me. From flying to driving to walking it has been a dear companion to some low moments. I relate to being away and feeling that tear on you; being in the right place but also missing home. You can also tell that Sierra is talking about something she has experienced herself which makes it so much more powerful.
